February 5, 2008: Effective January 1, 2008 the Medicare Conversion Factor has been increased until June 30, 2008 to $19.97. To view a list of committees, see "About ASA" and click on "ASA Committee Listing" November 27, 2007: CMS has announced the 2008 Medicare Conversion Factor for anesthesia. The Ohio anesthesia conversion factor will be $17.71. This payment rate could increase if Congress votes to forgive the impact of the SGR formula used to calculate physician payments. We will post any updates to this payment rate as the information becomes available. The current 2007 Medicare Conversion Factor is $15.98.
The 69th Annual Meeting of the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists From the Pennsylvania Society of Anesthesiology - Physician involvement in the administration of anesthesia in Pennsylvania will be limited by parts of the Governor’s Health Care Reform Act (HB-1256). Ohio Medicaid is currently looking for Ohio licensed physicians and health professionals to serve as Medical Technical Advisors for the Ohio Medicaid program; in the areas of Disability Determinations, and authorization of health services. Interested individuals would serve as contractors for a limited contract period, and will be asked to submit proposal packets. Contracted providers will be paid on an hourly basis, and will be required to work on-site at a specified Medicaid location, to be determined. Registration is now available on-line. Vote on Maintaining the Medicare Conversion Factor for 2006. Last week Congress voted by a slim margin to maintain the 2006 Medicare Conversion factor at the 2005 levels rather than the negative 4.4% cut which took effect January 1, 2006. In the end, and a very tight vote, Congress prevented the negative 4.4% effect on our conversion factor. The members of Congress voting record on this issues is also on the ASA website. 11/18/2005 Medicare proposes a 4.4% reduction in the 2006 Medicare Conversion Factors. ASA is encouraging all members to write their elected officials to oppose this action.
